About Ladakh

Ladakh is a region in the Indian state of Jammu & Kashmir in North India. A land abounding in overwhelming physicals features and set in an enormous and stunning environment, Ladakh is bounded by two of the world’s mightiest mountain ranges, the Karakoram in the north and the Great Himalaya in the south. It is traversed by two other parallel chains, the Ladakh Range and the Zanskar Range.

Ladakh Monastery tour

Built some 600 years ago, Thiksey monastery is one of the most spectacular monasteries in Ladakh region. Originally a part of the Gelukpa order, Thiksey consists of 12 levels ascending a hillside. The Gompa complex has 10 temples, a nursery and about 100 monks of the yellow – hat sect of Buddhism. After entering the main courtyard to the immediate right and up several steps is a new temple containing a large Buddha statue. The H.H. Dalai Lama constructed this Buddha, 15 meters tall, in 1980 to commemorate a visit to Thiksey. The statue was made under the guidance, supervision and direction of Kushok Nawang Chamba Stanzin, the present head Lama of Thiksey monastery. Thiksey has a pillar inscribed with the teaching of Lord Buddha.

Ladakh Trekking Tour

Wildlife in Ladakh is quite fascinating and is an exhilarating experience. In Ladakh, the nature whispers through your ears the chant of love. Ladakh is home of many rare and exotic animals and birds.From the warmer parts of India many birds migrate to spend summer in Ladakh. Here one can sees Himalayan birds including Tibetan snow cocks, griffon vultures, and bearded vultures. The bearded vulture has 3 m long wingspan. Here one can also see many migratory birds that come here to spend summer from the warmer parts of India. Approx. 225 species of birds are found here.
